During the recent VR crisis I unlurked so people who had to, could see that I was online
The barrage of bites, 'hi', 'wanna chat' and 'wassup' messages made me remember why I lurk
*clicks lurk*
I think it is amazing, really honestly amazing, that so many people have pitched in to do their bit and help with the database repairs. Where else, online or in real life, would so many complete strangers dedicate so much time in getting something going again
The admin message board was alive with the volunteers trying to organise the workload and work out how the database functioned. Amazing stuff
Its true that some of the loving hand-crafting that I had done on some of the entries has been lost - the careful cropping, colour filling or search for that 'just right' picture might be missing ... but its a small point when shown against the huge effort made by so many people. Awesome ...
and ... and ... to make it perfect, I get my thread made sticky in the main forum woooooooooooo
and ... and .... I got THREE messages from Cancer himself
Here I was going to post an entry about being logged out for 'hammering' just because the server lets go all the lagging pages at once
... then I read a good friend's journal and realise that my problems are nothing
In the middle of my VR fix yesterday, the power went off in my neighbour's house (where I use their internet while ours is out) ... the storms had done something to the power lines
By this morning the lines had been repaired and the power was back, shame they can't do the same with our telephone pole :(
I am usually quite forgiving on here, I don't poke fun at many people ... but there is one girl who is going to get 'named and shamed' right here if she doesn't stop poking her knuckles at the keyboard ... I am a procurator, I just list stuff - I really can't do anything about anything when it comes to VR
If you have been keeping up to date with my lack of telephone line / internet .... today I watched a man (with white hard hat) come and look at the telephone pole which is now laying in chunks at the side of the field.
It seems that whoever had cut up the fallen pole wasn't the phone company, so I guess that is a fresh fight to be had before anything is done to replace it :(
I am going to get some photos of all this and get them on here ... it is a keeper f'sure

Ok... just... why can't they put another on up and get you back to us? House misses you. Gees.. who cares about the one they cut up? *pouts*
We all miss you, tell them to get off their silly duffs and fix the lines. They can fight over the bill later. lol
